Naïssam Jalal will dedicate a time to listening and discovering musicians of modal tradition from around the world.
Modal improvisation based on the Persian repertoire “Radif”

14/04/2025–18/04/2025
LE QUARTZ, BREST (29)

Diving into the depths of Persian classical music's Radif, Farnaz Modarresifar will propose an interpretation of this heritage through the art of modal improvisation.
This approach highlights the complex modal structures and subtleties of the connections between poetry and music that characterize this musical tradition.
Improvisation allows us to revisit the modes while respecting the foundations of Radif, thus offering a space for expression that is both codified and free.

35-hour training, open to singers, as well as instrumentalists able to play microtonal music.

In partnership with Le Quartz, Scène nationale and Ensemble Sillage

KARAGÖZ ART CENTER, AYVALIK (TURKEY)

Turkish music is among the most dynamic musical components in the area stretching from the Balkans to the Middle East. This geographical area is influenced by folk and classical music due to their vitality and their fusion with contemporary genres (jazz and electronic music).
In this course, the contributors come from the main currents of modern Turkish music — popular, gypsy and classical music — and are among the greatest virtuosos in their respective art field.
For this training, we will be reunited on the shores of the Aegean Sea, in the beautiful port city of Ayvalik, facing the Greek island of Lesbos. A museum city at the western tip of Turkey, a link between Anatolia and the Balkans.

35-hour training, open to singers, as well as string and wind players.
